JB attended Center Grove High School where he hit a school -record 29 home runs during his 4 years. He was named Johnson County player of the year three times, made the All-State team twice, and was selected as a Louisville Slugger All-American in 2005. As a freshman, Paxson attended Walters State Junior College in Tennessee. He helped lead Walters State to the Division 1 Junior College World Series Championship in 2006. The Senators went 61-8 that season.  He lead the team in hitting with a  .455 average with 13 Home runs and 39 RBI's during his only season with the Senators. He threw out 26 of 31 would be base stealers. He was drafted by the Atlanta Braves after his freshman year at Walters State in the 18th round but did not sign.  JB then played 3 seasons at Western Kentucky University as both a catcher and also pitched his senior year. Paxson played a summer in the Cape Cod collegeiate league for the Harwich Mariners.  He played in two NCAA regionals with the Hilltoppers. In 2009, e was drafted by the Los Angelos Dodgers in the 13th round and signed. He played 3 seasons of minor league baseball with Dodgers as a relief pitcher. Paxson now lives in Greenwood and coaches the tight ends at Center Grove High School and runs Trojan Power Club during the winter and summer seasons.
