Coach Bernie Doyle has been giving private hitting/baseball instruction for over 30 years now. Coach Doyle currently gives private hitting lessons at Raker Hitting and Pitching Facility. He has had many players continue on to play college and professional baseball. Coach Doyle is a member of the American Baseball Coaches Association
(ABCA) where he attends the National Conference every year to learn as much as he can about hitting and baseball intruction in general. He is also a member of the Indiana High School Baseball Coaches Association (IHSBCA). He is certified in Mike Epstein Hitting from Lake Tahoe, Nevada. Coach Doyle is starting his 10th year as a professional scout for the Texas Rangers. 2023 WORLD SERIES CHAMPIONS!!! He previously was a Scout for the New York Mets for 5 years. In 2018 the Rangers took Scott Kapers a catcher from Valparaiso University in the 17th round, Renton Poole a RHP from IU Kokomo Unversity in the 28th round, and Noah Burkholder a RHP from Crown
Point HS. In the 2015 Draft the Rangers took Josh Altmann a shortstop from Olivet Nazarene University(IL) in the 22nd round and Ashton Perritt a RHP out of Liberty University and a graduate of Whiteland HS in the 24th round. The Mets took Kevin Plawicki in the 2012 MLB draft with the 35th overall pick. Plawicki was an All-American Catcher from Purdue University and a graduate of Westfield High School. The Mets drafted 2 local high school players in the 2011 MLB draft. Christian Montgomery, Lawrence Central High School, in the 11th round and A.J. Reed, Terre Haute South, in the 25th round. Montgomery, a hard throwing righty, ended up signing with the Mets and Reed, a hard throwing lefty decided to attend the Univerity of Kentucky to play baseball. Coach Doyle gave baseball hitting lessons to Alex Krupa, Greenwood High School, He was drafted in the 19th round by the Cincinatti Reds in 2013 but decided to attend Iowa Western JC and then IU for 2 years. Coach Doyle was drafted by the Boston Red Sox Organization out of high school in 1988. He played in the Red Sox Organization for 2 years and then his career was cut short with a leg injury.
Coach Doyle has coached in the Indiana Bulls, Indiana Rawlings and Indiana Cyclones Organizations. This is his 30th overall year of coaching starting at Alma Mater North Newton 90’, Muncie Central 93’, Ben Davis 94’, Penn 95’, Perry Meridian 96’ and Center Grove for 18 years. His main coaching responsibilities were overseeing the hitting program and working with the outfielders to go along with other basic duties. Coach Doyle takes great pride in helping players continue their baseball careers in college if that is the player’s desire. He was selected to coach in the Indiana North/South All-Star game in 2002. Coach Doyle also coaches golf for Center Grove.
Coach Doyle is currently in his 18th year as the PE teacher at Maple Grove Elementary School. He was the Physical Education teacher at North Grove Elementary School 12 years before going to MG. Coach Doyle graduated from North Newton High School in 1988. While in high school he lettered in football, basketball, and baseball all 4 years. He was selected First Team All-State in both football and baseball. He was also selected to play in the North/South All-Star games in both football and baseball. After playing professional baseball Coach Doyle attended Ball State University where he played football and earned his 2nd degree Black Belt status in Taekwondo martial arts. Coach Doyle graduated from Ball State University in 94’ with a degree in All-Grade Physical Education. He earned his masters degree in 99’ from IUPUI University.
Coach Doyle is married to Debbie and they have 5 children between them, Jade (27), Nicole (24), Lucas (23), Jake (22), and Parker (20). Debbie works for Eli Lilly. Jade got a nursing degree from Purdue Northwest where he also played baseball. He's married to Tessa and works at Riley Hospital. Nicole is a UK grad and now a nurse at University of Kentucky Hospital. Lucas is a Sr. at Indiana Wesleyan University on a football scholarship and is studying Math Education. Lucas is currently student teaching at Heritage Christian and is engaged to Lexy planning to get married next October. Jake is a Sr. at IU Indy studying Computer Science. Parker is a freshman at Indiana State University where he runs track. He was named Mr. Indiana Sprinters and Hurdlers after he won the state championship in the 300 hurdles and hes 4x4 relay team won also.. Coach Doyle and his family are active members at Mount Pleasant Christian Church.
